“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” These words, written by Chinese philosopher Lao-Tzu, are as true today as they were in the 6th century BC. Every undertaking –long or short, simple or complex – starts with action. But what is it that inspires us to get into action and take that all-important first step? Everything that exists in the visible, tangible world began as an invisible and intangible thought; an inkling. . . a desire. Our desires are intrinsically generative. The moment they are born, they set into motion a creative force that inspires us into action. Once we take that proverbial first step, we feel even more inspired, and each step we take thereafter generates the motivation we need to keep going until we reach our goal. Everything that has ever been or ever will be created follows this same formula: Thoughts generate desires; desire inspires us to action; and action leads to the manifestation of our desires.
