While employers may lump critical thinking under the general category of "problem solving," it"s much more survival-oriented. It also includes knowing where to look and continuing the search without prejudice about what we may find.

Analyzing the accumulated information requires thoughtful consideration of the voracity of the information and what we believe to be true in our life, not necessarily in someone else"s.

We"ve all had experiences we"d like to forget. While past experiences can be instructive, re-living them and nursing the festering wound of a past event adds nothing good to your life. Once you"ve learned the lesson to be had from that experience, you can choose to let it go.

The past, while real at one time, is now just a concept, as is the future. The only time you have is now. Don"t let something in the past rob you of your present productivity and happiness. Choose to let it go and live. When you have trouble letting go of the past, it"s typically because you keep bringing it back into your life.

Identify the memory that besieges you the most. Use guided meditation to let it go and replace it with the present. During the guided meditation, you dwell on the present, which forces the past out of your consciousness. Repeated sessions of guided meditation will teach you how to deprive the past of the life you"ve inadvertently been breathing back into it.

Designing a more positive present that"s too busy to dwell on the past can help push it out of your life. So can journaling, introspection, and counseling or coaching. Make the choice to stop reviving the past.

Recognizing time for the scarcity it is, and then owning the decisions made around it are critical to restoring sanity to our hectic lives. There is a better way to live that brings true fulfillment and happiness in line with one"s values. Taking back one"s power over time is a freeing exercise.

Everyone dislikes some things about themselves, but hopefully not everything. Learning to love yourself is so much more empowering than micro-analyzing your flaws through a magnifying glass. Every flaw presents you with a choice: you can try to change it, or accept it as part of you. That doesn"t mean that you should use character flaws as excuses not to grow, however.

Learning to tell yourself at close range that you love and accept yourself just the way you are can help you see how unnecessarily critical you"ve been of yourself. You"re so much more than a handful of flaws. Zoom your lens out to see yourself in a more accurate perspective.

Self-acceptance and self-improvement are not opposing forces. Ideally, learn to love who you are right now, and then from that amazing position, work to improve yourself.

Only from a position of loving yourself can you contribute your talents to the world. When you"re happy from the inside out, you exude happiness and can better design your life.

Video Summary:
Judgment is an insidious element in our lives. It started in our DNA as a survival tactic to help us discern friend from enemy and poison from food. It has replicated its way into our subconscious mind. We not only judge other people (don"t believe anyone who claims to be non-judgmental -- they"re not being honest with themselves), but we also judge objects and situations.

Not all judgment is of a negative quality. We tend to categorize most things or people into the broad categories of good or bad, using a wide assortment of labels: trashy, exquisite, obsolete, opulent, overpriced. The criteria we most often use for these judgments are a person or thing"s potential value to us.

Of course what we most commonly judge is ourselves, re-broadcasting the negative voices we"ve heard from others in our head. The most damaging element about judgment is that it traps us in our head, denying us the pleasure of the present moment.

Happiness, on the other hand, requires living in the here and now -- being more mindful. Practicing mindfulness can help you learn to be more self-actualized, and how to live more happily in the moment.
