AIR MILES Cancels Expiry Policy 2016

This AIR MILES® video is to inform you that your AIR MILES® will no longer expire. Beginning on December 31, 2016, Reward Miles older than 5 years, were set to expire. However, in a statement made on December 1, 2016, Bryan Pearson (president and CEO of LoyaltyOne) said "We have decided to cancel the expiry policy so that all collectors, regardless of location, can be confident that their balances will be protected."

Furthermore, the company stated that "it believes that cancelling the expiry policy will lead to more meaningful conversations between government and industry, helping to ensure loyalty programs remain viable in all provinces and that Canadian consumers continue to reap the rewards of loyalty programs, regardless of the province in which they live."

This is great news for AIR MILES® collectors because now they can rest easy knowing that they don’t have to scramble to redeem their AIR MILES® by December 31, 2016. I’ve been a member of this loyalty program since 1999 and have earned and redeemed thousands of reward miles for merchandise, gift certificates, and for paying my grocery bills at Metro and Sobeys as well at other participating retailers.
