Om is a mantra and mystical Sanskrit sound of Hindu origin, sacred and important in various Dharmic religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The syllable is also referred to as omkara or aumkara, literally "om syllable", and in Sanskrit it is sometimes referred to as praṇava, literally "that which is sounded out loudly".
The chanting of OM quickly relaxes the body and generates spiritual energy. By concentrating deeply on the vibration of OM, you can feel the mantra become absorbed into the body. Such absorption fills the mind with peace and will eventually lead to increased spiritual wisdom.
